NRC full form- National Register of Citizens

Now let’s start to understand NRC full form.NRC full form is “National Register of Citizens”which means that NRC is a register which holds the name of citizens of country only.It is a tool to differentiate between citizens and non citizens of India if, we are talking about NRC in India. We should also know about History and facts of NRC and most importantly, it's impact on India. So let’s have a look to NRC full analysis.

Foundation of NRC in India
National register of citizens (NRC full form) creation is mandated by The citizenship Act 1955 amendment in 2003.According to the Citizenship Rules, 2003,center government can issue an order to prepare  National Population Register (NPR full form).Afterwards, create the NRC based on the data gathered in National Population Register (NPR).

Assam NRC
NRC in Assam is an example for us to find the consequences of NRC in India when this exercise will implement in other regions. Now let's talk about NRC in Assam.  Assam international borders are with Bhutan in the northwest and with Bangladesh in the southwest.Assam has unique problem of illegal immigration. So an NRC for the state was created in 1951 on the basis of 1951 census data. But it was not maintained afterwards.

In Assam people wanted to form their culture and language in full form, because illegal immigrants was diluting their culture. So people of Assam put full pressure on government and In 1983,government form the Illegal Migrants Act, passed by the Parliament creating a separate tribunal process for identifying illegal migrants in Assam, but Supreme Court of India struck it down as unconstitutional in 2005.
After this statement from supreme court, the Government of India agreed to update Assam NRC, but the process was very slow and unsatisfactory due to many reasons, then Supreme Court started directing and monitoring the process in 2013.

Cut off date for qualifying for this NRC in Assam was 24 March 1971.The very next day, on 25th March 1971,the Bangladesh war of liberation started.Millions of refugees streamed into India. Many never went back to Bangladesh.According to NRC of Assam a person had to prove that he was living in India on or before 24 March 1971.
If he born after 24 march 1971 then he  had to prove that his descendants were living in India on or before 24 March 1971.
Assam NRC data
Now have a look to data involved in full form NRC in Assam. After many revisions of NRC in Assam final updated NRC for Assam, published on 31 August 2019, contained 31 million people out of 33 million population of Assam, leaving out 1.9 million applicants. These 1.9 million people are in danger of losing their citizenship.
There is also an economic look regarding this Assam NRC.This NRC full form process took 3 years and more than 1200 crore Indian rupee and also 63000 persons to perform this full NRC.

The central government can use Section 3(2)(c) of The Foreigners Act, 1946 and deport full amount of  people which are not in NRC list of Assam because they are living illegally in India.
Detention centers
For detention of these people, the government has to look at possible requirement to house a large number of illegal foreigners. The government is building many detention camps throughout India.First detention centers had come up in Assam during the tenure of the UPA government in 2008. In 2014, the Center had told all the states to set up at least one detention center for illegal immigrants so as not to mix them up with jail inmates.
Now you can understand the importance of detention centers when we are talking about NRC full form.
The guidelines suggest that detention centers should have 10 feet high boundary walls covered with barbed wires. The guidelines also clarified the difference between the detention center and the prison.

Impact on India
After detention of these people in detention center. The government has to implement third stage of this process send these people to their country after first and second stage of this process i.e identify and detain these illegal immigrants.

For third stage, Indian government has to talk to these illegal immigrants country to take them back.Until  their country is not ready to take them back, they have to live in detention centers of India.

In detention centers, Indian government has to fulfill basic requirements of these illegal immigrants like food, clothes, medicine, basic infrastructure etc. This will cost economically as well to India as long as they will be in detention centers on the land of India. In the era, when Indian economics is in bad health.

We should also look to another aspect as well regarding India relations with neighbour country like Bangladesh in this case of Assam NRC.If India will put pressure on Bangladesh to take back these people and Bangladesh accept these people in the pressure of India, then it will impact on India Bangladesh relations.
In other case if Bangladesh deny to take them back.In this case as well relations will become worse.

Also India is facing a resistance and anger of the citizens in the form of protest at different places Of India mostly in Assam,UP,Delhi, West Bengal,Mumbai etc.It makes an environment of disturbance. Now you can understand what do i mean by NRC full form.

Conclusion
NRC in Assam is costing too much for India, economically, socially, politically and on international platform as well and NRC in Assam means we are talking about 3.30 crore people. So should India implement NRC in all over India, which has 140 crore people?
Are we ready for NRC in all over India?
